Sheba is a beautiful Ankole cow with a strong build and magnificent horns. With her darker brown colour, Sheba is another prime example of a very traditional Ankole look. She was correctly crowned as the 2020 ARC best elite cow with exceptional values for ICP (intercalf), growth and milk production. As a BA2 and A10 combination she was always going to breed masculine bulls.  Our own Ruhugo is proof of that and through him Sheba’s fantastic bloodline will be entrenched in our animals.

With her perfect horns previously measured at over 52″ and with 20″ bases, Kyasha is currently the benchmark Ankole cow in South Africa. She is a magnificent example of the Ankole breed in both her stature and her personality. Apart from A26, A21 was the most prolific foundation cow. Kyasha has proven to be a very fertile cow and at 18 years continues to be a prolific embryo donor. Although she has proven to breed exceptional females with Maximus, she also does well with all other bulls we have used with her. With offspring such as Dyana (a Kyasha/Dyambo daughter) and our three Kyasha-Maximus sisters, this exceptional traditional Ankole line will form the core of the Swanepoel Ankole Stud.

This beautiful old lady reminds us of what a tradtional Ankole can look like. She stands out, even in our breeding herd, with her grace and feminine stature. If ever there was a case to clone one of SA’s foundational cows, she would be it!

Imali is the daughter of the famous 51 4/8″ foundation cow Texas. Texas of course is a BA1/A17 full sister of Benella’s Aura, one of South Africa’s very best foundational cows.

Imali encapsulates what I am looking for in an Ankole stud cow, both physically as well as aesthetically!

This is the famous A17 bloodline in action, combined with A34.

This velvet skinned brown beauty comes from two famous mottled parents, the 46 2/8″ Mr President and 47″+ Botse.

This is the famous A26 and A5 foundational cow bloodlines in action. Velvet produced 4 calves in 40 months and is a prolific embryo donor.

Her sire, Mr President, may go down in history as Merlot’s most famous son!

Mosi is a beautiful, glossy red Ankole heifer with exceptional horns and a gentle and soft demeanour. Mosi is the daughter of the well known Birungi.

Her horn growth is one of the most impressive in our records, now measuring 50″ before she turns 7! She is an almost equal blend of the original BA 1, 2 and 3 bloodlines, with A13, A15 and A18 all contributing. This is the power of responsible cross breeding.

Mosi is a matriarch in the making!

Kyma is a daughter of our 52 4/8″ Kyasha (A07-042) and the 52″ Maximus (NANK10-115), two of the top Ankoles in the country. With such royal parents, she combines the top genetics when it comes to fertility, A21 from her dam’s side with A26 from her sire’s side. It is therefore no surprise that she is a very fertile young cow.

Like her full sister Kyma, Coco is a daughter of our 52 4/8″ Kyasha (A07-042) and Maximus (NANK10-115), two of the top Ankoles in the country. With such royal parents, she combines the top genetics when it comes to fertility, A21 from her dam’s side with A26 from her sire’s side. Like her sister, she is a very fertile young cow.

Afiya is a beautiful dark brown young heifer, with well balanced proportions and symmetrical horns. She is a perfect blend, similar to R19-002 Mosi, of all 3 original bloodlines in BA1 with A13, BA2 with A15 and also BA3 with A18. Afiya is a great embryo donor which means we will be able to further enhance this combination with our own stud bulls.

Dyana is a beautiful daughter of our 52 4/8″ Kyasha (A07-042) and the 49 4/8″ Dyambo (NANK07-047). When you cross legends, you expect exceptional results. Dyana is a double dose of BA1, with A4 through Dyambo and with A21 through Kyasha. This is a young cow with stunning potential and exceptional horn growth!

LCM22-006 Nutmeg

Nutmeg is an explosive combination of the scarce A4 foundational line through her one of a kind dam – NANK09-034.

Her sire, the 52″ Maximus, adds the super fertile A26 dam line. Nutmeg can now propogate the A4/A26 line, both with proven SA Genetics, but also our new Ugandan (via Kenya) genetics.

With her typical traditional Ankole white face markings, this stunning young heifer combines the A33 bloodline of her dam with Kyasha’s A21 and Maximus’ A26 via her sire.

She will now be cross bred with our new genetics to build on this super SA bloodline.

This fantastic young heifer is the product of strong line breeding of 52″ Maximus and 52 4/8″. We will now cross breed her, mainly with our BA3 bull line, as well as with our imported new genetic lines.

When those horns turn upwards like her dam’s, she is going to be stunning!

DFN22-027 Zermatt

Zermatt is a young sina brown cow with minimal white markings sired by glorifying 52” “Rutara” horn shaped Cumulus and dam 52” “Ricumitana” horn shaped Aura. She is a full sister of DFN22-036 Samson. We love the genetic potential of this combination of A17 and A26!

Her younger half sister, Shiraz, was sold for R700,000.00 at Fire Sky’s auction on 1 February 2025.

Kiona is a Bihogo brown, superior quality heifer sired by the incredible Cumulus (NANK10-120, BA2 & A26), a Rutara horn-shaped 50″ bull that sold for a record price of R1.65m at the 2022 National Ankole Auction. Her dam is 47″ Merlot (NANK06-006) boasting genetics of BA1 x A5. Merlot sold for a record price at the 2023 National Ankole Auction. At a young age Kiona is showing the same excellent fertility of her famous dam. She is the perfect specimen of a spectacular Bihogo brown Ankole.

Ayoola is a heifer with exactly the looks of her beautiful dam – Nandi who is herself a daughter of our 52 4/8″ Kyasha. However she carries the mottled genes of her strong sire – Bont Beast, the son of the famous Uganda!

This young heifer combines BA1 with four foundational bloodlines, namely A26, A23. A21, and A18. More importantly, she has the classic traditional Ugandan Ankole features.

This young heifer is the product of 4 foundational animals as grandparents, conbining A26, A18, A34 and A17 cow lines with the BA1 and BA2 bull lines. To crown it all, she is a stunning traditional looking Ankole heifer, but clearly loaded with mottled genes through her sire, which himself is a son of the bull Uganda.

Eve is the first heifer born on our farm, from an embryo that had been frozen for 16 years! She has the sweetest nature and a beautiful build for such a young heifer. Her sire is BA3 and her dam the phenomenal A26 – making her the full sister of NANK07-014, NANK09-003 Lindi, as well as the 47″ NANK09-006 Botse. She is the maternal sister of both Cumulus and Maximus!

Like with Botse, the bloodline has combined for the perfect mottled look. Eve has been donating embryos from a very young age and this will assist us to replicate this famous combination. This is genetic gold!

Milky Way is an excellent example of top Ankole breeding from Lumarie genetics. With a stunning mottled coat giving the impression of the stars of the Milky Way. She is an excellent combination of BA2 and A15 with BA3 and the famous A26. She has matured into one of our top embryo donors.

She is the half sister of LU18-005 Valvet, through her dam 47″ Botse.

Combining the super fertility of A26 via Maximus, with the only available female offspring of A4 resulted in this unique and perfect young heifer cow. She has proven herself as a top embryo donor, allowing us to now expand this scarce foundational bloodline.
