About the public record.

What is recorded, what is calculated and what remains unknown.

One maintained record.

The Fire Sky public record is generated from the validated master herd database. It contains published animal identity, sex, parentage, permitted birth information, recorded horn measurements, public sale history, photographs and approved profile text. Operational, reproductive and other private fields are excluded during generation.

Foundation language

Imports are the Ugandan KBA/KA animals. Foundation generation means their recorded offspring—the first generation bred here. Direct recorded progeny are children present in this record. Recorded descendants include later generations. A contributing line is a registered foundation cow with recorded descendants.

Missing is not negative

No recorded progeny does not mean no progeny. No auction record does not mean never sold. An unknown value is not zero. Outside-reference animals are included to resolve pedigree and market history; inclusion does not imply Fire Sky ownership.

Pedigree, measurements and statistics

Pedigree distance is not genomic distance. Wright's coefficient is calculated from the recorded pedigree and is a floor where ancestors are missing. Measurements retain field, value, unit, date and age where available; derived ages are labelled. Cohort summaries use one comparable observation per animal.

  • 0–4 usable observations: no aggregate.
  • 5–9: median and range, labelled small sample.
  • 10–19: median, range and quartiles.
  • 20 or more: mean, median, range and quartiles.
  • Complex distributions require at least 30 comparable observations.

All comparisons are relative to the Fire Sky public record, never the national herd or the breed as a whole. The database manifest shows the current data version, measurement cut-off, sample sizes and coverage.
